Aged 63, Karen Blixen is at the pinnacle of her fame and next in line to win the Nobel Prize for literature. She is an isolated genius, however, until the day she meets a talented 30-year-old poet. У 1889 році данська художниця Марі Тріпке вийшла заміж за Педера Северина Крьоєра, всесвітньо відомого живописця. Вони були однією з найзнаменитіших сімейних пар в країні. Видатні люди того часу - політики, аристократи, вчені, письменники, королівські особи, мріяли про те, щоб П. С. Крьоєр написав їх портрети. А Марі називали найкрасивішою жінкою Європи. Життя сім'ї, в якій підростала донька Вібеке, виглядала ідеальною: творчість, високий статус, багатство. Але за удаваним благополуччям ховалося справжнє пекло. Крьоєр страждав спадковим психічним розладом, часто впадав в депресії. З веселого і радісного чоловіка він в одну мить міг перетворюватися в божевільного монстра. Знайомство зі шведським композитором Хюго Альвеном, у якого Марі закохалась, здавалося їй єдиним кроком до порятунку.

When his uncle marries a girl from Thailand, Dennis decides to try his own luck on a trip to Pattaya, as it seems that love is easier to find in Thailand. He knows that his mother would never accept another woman in his life, so he lies and tells her that he is going to Germany. Dennis has never been out traveling before and the hectic Pattaya is a huge cultural shock for him. The intrusive Thai girls give big bruises to Dennis' naive picture of what love should be like, and he is about to lose hope when he unexpectedly meets the Thai woman Toi.
