Shirakaba Pass is located in the western part of Nagano Prefecture at the foot of the Northern Alps. Many people gather on the slopes of the cut mountain. The purpose is to see hawks flying in the sky. Migratory hawks pass through this pass every autumn on their way to Southeast Asia in search of food. It is an excellent spot to watch them.
