A stone-paved road with sunlight streaming through the trees from green trees. The setting is Kisoji, a mountain road that straddles Nagano and Gifu. It was one of the most important highways in the Edo period (1603-1867), and even today, in 2025, many people from Japan and abroad come to walk it. A group of three families hiking 8 km between inns. A man practicing trail running on a dirt road. Some people are confronting themselves as they walk. What kind of encounters will we have along the way during the three days in early summer when we come and go between the inns?
