The adventure action film centers on a famous extreme sports blogger who, having arrived in Cuba, finds herself involved in the mysterious story of a document that disappeared many years ago, according to which America was supposed to return the Guantanamo base to Cuba. Both the special services and a serious businessman have been hunting for it for a long time. However, only her grandfather, former intelligence officer Leo Voronov, a retired KGB general, with whom she does not communicate, knows where this document is. In parallel with the action in our time, the film will also tell about the adventures of Voronov shortly before the Cuban Revolution in 1958.

Історія подвигу радянського льотчика Михайла Дев'ятаєва, який потрапив до німецького полону. 8 лютого 1945 року Дев'ятаєв очолює втечу з концтабору на острові Узедом, захопивши ворожий бомбардувальник.Молодий льотчик-винищувач Михайло Дев'ятаєв бився з перших днів війни. У перші місяці війни він обороняв Білорусію і Україну. У липні 1944-го він зазнає аварії під час повітряного бою, опинившись на зайнятої німцями території. Так починається страшна, напружена і неймовірна історія його полону. Після першої невдалої спроби втечі Дев'ятаєв потрапляє на острів Узедом у Балтійському морі. Але перед тим він несподівано зустрічає свого бойового товариша Миколу Ларіна, який пішов на угоду з ворогом. Німці якраз проводять випробування новітніх балістичних ракет «Фау-2», в яких бачать грізну «зброю відплати». У Дев'ятаєва є вибір - загинути в таборі, більше ніколи не піднявшись у небо, або ж взяти приклад Ларіна, адже клеймо «зрадник Батьківщини» йому і так майже забезпечено. Однак Дев'ятаєв йде третім шляхом. Разом з невеликою групою соратників він захоплює німецький літак «Хейнкель», щоб за всяку ціну повернутися додому і доставити вкрай важливі відомості.

Молодий аніматор дитячого центру Олексій Трешкін - інфантильний і життєрадісний "хіпстер" - виявляється двійником найнебезпечнішого злодія і вбивці Смайлика (так його прозвали за звичку посміхатися перед тим, як вбити). Смайлик викрадає з музею Санкт-Петербурга національний символ Казахстану - Збрую Золотого Воїна. Молода та красива лейтенант поліції Ірина Славіна ловить Трешкіна, і "сучасними" поліцейськими методами змушує його допомогти слідству. Вибору немає, інакше Трешкін сяде як справжній злочинець.Так Трешкін опиняється в Єгипті, де сидять двоє подільників Смайлика - молодий злодюжка-оптиміст Муха і досвідчений та похмурий Шатун. Починається божевільна низка пригод, - втеча під прикриттям піщаної бурі, гонки на вантажівках, переодягання в паранджі. Намагаючись викрутитися із ситуації, Трешкін несподівано розуміє, що з безвідповідального слабака перетворюється на людину, від якої залежить свобода і життя інших. Але коли реальний Смайлик виходить на сцену, Трешкіну доведеться зважитися на справжній подвиг, щоб в цей новий рік врятувати і себе, і Славіну, і своїх нових друзів. А головне - знайти кохання.
