Set in the heart of Mumbai, ZOO depicts lifestyles in and around the ghetto co-existing with the people residing in the upmarket, high-rise buildings of Mumbai. It is a story of a bunch of youngsters trapped and fighting their existence, and traces their lives through 4 parallel tracks. The film delves and inter-weaves the lives of 2 teenaged Dharavi rappers, a coffee-shop waiter who runs his drug delivery at the coffee shop, an under-aged teenage girl who hasn't left her posh South Mumbai apartment in 2 years as she lives the guilt of accidently killing her friends, and another girl staying in the slums working as house help in upmarket Mumbai. As we follow them, we realize that either they are fighting their identities, or are trying to alter their realities or have reluctantly succumbed to it.

Двоє друзів вирушають на пошуки зниклого приятеля. У цій подорожі їм належить постійно вплутуватися у вже давно забуті суперечки, зіпсувати чуже весілля і побувати на похоронах. Їх дорога проходить через небезпечні місця. І тут починається ще одна не зовсім звичайна подорож друзів дорогами їх пам'яті. Вони згадують свого приятеля, нестримного і вільнодумного Ранчо, який якимось дивним чином увірвався в їхнє життя і все в ньому змінив. Вони згадують ті часи, коли всі вони жили в студентському гуртожитку. Згадують про те, як зароджувалося кохання Ранчо до жвавої дівчини Піа і про конфлікт Ранчо з його наставником, справжнім тираном Віру Сахастрабудхе. І ось одного разу Ранчо раптом зникає ... Ким він був насправді? Звідки він родом? Чому зник?

Young Biniya lives a poor lifestyle in a small village in the mountainous and snowy region of Himachal Pradesh in India along with her widowed mom and wrestler brother. She entertains various tourists, and while doing so with some tourists from Japan, trades in her bear-tooth amulet with a blue umbrella. She and her umbrella become very popular with both tourists and the local villagers. A restaurant-owner, Nandkishore Khatri, takes a fancy to this umbrella and attempts several times to buy if off of her - in vain. Then one day while tending to her two cows, the umbrella goes missing. The entire village sympathizes with her. She suspects Nandkishore, and the police turn his house upside down but are unable to locate the missing umbrella. An embittered and upset Nandkishore orders a red-and-white Japanese umbrella and, in turn, becomes immensely popular with the local villagers as well as with tourists. The question remains: where did Biniya's umbrella disappear to, and will she ever recover it?
