Почавши перегляд фільму «Код кампусу», глядач знайомиться зі студентами, які впевнені в тому, що проживають свої кращі роки життя. Одного разу учні Бекка, Арі, Грета, Іззі і Арун стають свідками по-справжньому фантастичного і неймовірного явища. Їх спільний знайомий, якого вони знали з моменту вступу, буквально розщеплюється у них на очах. Він немов випаровується, не залишаючи після себе нічого, крім невидимих для людського ока молекул. Друзі шоковані від того, що відбувається. Але в чому причина цього явища? Хто несе відповідальність за те, що трапилася трагічна подія? Ці питання не дають спокою студентами. Вони вирішують почати власне розслідування для того, щоб дізнатися, що ж насправді відбувається в студентському містечку. Вони й гадки не мають, до чого це може їх привести.

In Britain the Police Federation brands it as sick and contemptible whilst politician Hillary Clinton accuses it of "stealing the innocence of our children." Most vocal of its critics is crusading Florida lawyer Jack Thompson who, in the wake of an Alabama teen-ager going on a killing spree and blaming the game, attempts to get it banned, bringing a court action against the Housers and their company Rockstar Games, now based in San Diego. However Thompson's public denunciation of the game is instrumental in determining the outcome of the court case.
