Сюжет (англ.)

Raftaar Singh (Akshay) spends his days whiling his time away dancing and jumping through fire hula-hoops at fairs in Bassi Pathana in Punjab. While his father (Yograj Singh) is tired of his ways, his mother (Rati Agnihotri) caters to his appetite with home-cooked jalebis, before the former asks Raftaar to choose a path for himself. Either get married to a certain Sweety, or move to Goa and work under his father's friend. Considering the first option unimaginable, Raftaar chooses the second.

It is a story of 4 friends - Dev, Gaurav, Aditya & Devi. The cast is young & fresh. They are at the cusp of their lives - The college has just about finished, but career path is yet to be set. These are the last few days of true freedom that we have all gone through, and still cherish. These friends are conscientious, they will have fun but would never cross the boundaries - They all have dreams and expectations from life, but as they say - man proposes, god disposes. Their fun filled and care free life comes to an abrupt halt, when they are faced with an extremely corrupt and seemingly fearless Police Officer. This puts a series of events in motion which will test their friendship and characters - their life becomes 'Fugly'.

Adapted from a Gujarati play by Bhavesh Mandalia, writer Umesh Shukla has adapted the drama to the big screen quite skillfully. Paresh Rawalâ€™s character Kanjilal gets some of the best dialogues and thespian does full justice to them. Kanjilalâ€™s arguments and counter-questions are very well thought out. The take on the God-men is very interesting. The best part was the parallel drawn to the Mahabharata towards the end, with Krishna (Akshay) re-playing his role as the legendary charioteer-advisor for a warrior (Arjun then, Kanji now).
