Сюжет

Хлопчикові Джону і його сестричці Перл "пощастило" побачити, як їх батька відвезла поліція, схопивши його за пограбування і вбивство двох чоловік. Батька засуджують до смерті і вішають, в спадок дітям залишаються вкрадені гроші, які батько заховав, узявши з Джона і Перл слово, що вони нікому не розповідять про тайник, навіть матері.
