Біографія
Брюс Дерн народився 4 червня 1936 року в місті Чикаго штат Іллінойс в сім'ї американських аристократів. Його дядько був відомий поет і драматург Арчибальд Макліш, дідусь по батьківській лінії — колишній губернатор штату Юта і Військовий міністр при Президенті Рузвельті, а Елеонора Рузвельт була навіть хрещеною матір'ю майбутнього актора. Закінчивши дві престижні школи, Брюс був зарахований в університет Пенсільванії, але через якийсь час кинув навчання та пішов в акторську студію Лі Страсберга.
...У 1958 році Брюс Дерн дебютував на Бродвеї в постановці «Дотик поета», а двома роками пізніше режисер Еліа Казан запросив його на невелику роль у фільмі «Дика річка» (1960). Роль була невеликою, але достатньою для того, щоб актора помітив Альфред Гічкок. У 1964 році Гічкок запросив талановитого актора в трилер «Марні», де його партнерами по знімальному майданчику стали Тіппі Хедрен і Шон Коннері. Завдяки дружбі з Джеком Ніколсоном, Брюс Дерн з'явився в двох фільмах Роджера Кормана: «Дикі ангели» (1966) і «Подорож» (1967).
