Пробуджений цим листом до життя, він пише чудову статтю, даючи в ній відповідь на це питання. Ця подія змінює на краще життя кількох людей. Фільм заснований на реальній пригоді, що мала місце у 1897 році, коли восьмирічна дівчинка Вірджинія вирішила розставити всі крапки над «i» та надіслала відповідного листа до редакції «New York Sun».
