Король (майстерна гра Хоторна) страждав порфірією, хворобою що вражає нервову систему. Це спадкоємна недуга проявляється періодично, і напади її непередбачувані. Одним з таких нападів скористалися політики на чолі з містером Фоксом і принцом Уельський (Еверетт), щоб перехопити владу у прем'єр-міністра містера Пітта. Безвольний, але марнославний денді принц Уельський домагався регенства тільки для того, щоб був визнаний його таємний шлюб і ніхто не заважав його світським розвагам. Keeping up with the huge amount of cash, Alan moves (in the 4th season) to the European Union to continue to make herself richer and to climb to the most powerful position he can reach...
