Після вбивства трьох чоловік в одному з барів Нью-Джерсі його помилково обвинуватили в цьому страшному злочині й присудили до трьох довічних тюремних строків. Перш ніж Картера все ж таки виправдали й звільнили (це відбулося в 1985 році), йому довелося 19 років провести за ґратами.Сюжет
