Радіоактивні опади загрожують знищити останнє вогнище цивілізації - Австралію.Підводний човен «Чарлстон» під командуванням капітана Двайта Тауерса, єдиний вцілілий у війні корабель американського військово-морського флоту, прибуває до Мельбурна. Взявши на борт вченого Джуліана Осборна, «Чарлстон» відправляється в «експедицію останньої надії» до берегів Аляски, звідки надходять таємничі, ледве чутні радіосигнали...

Байкери, які називають себе «Чорними бунтарями», увірвалися в гонку й намагаються приєднатися до змагання, але їх викидають. Проте одному з членів групи, вдається вкрасти другий приз, який він вручає свому лідерові Джонні.Закріпивши трофей біля керма, Джонні веде свою зграю у містечко Райтсвіль. Юрба вривається у місцевий бар "Кав’ярня Блікера", що належить шерифові Гаррі Блікеру – він сам там і працює. Приголомшений неподобствами, що відбуваються, він нічого не робить, щоб приборкати нахабних байкерів, поки ті не напиваються. Тривога наростає, коли в місто з гуркотом в'їжджає ще одна група байкерів на чолі з Чіно.
