Сюжет

Відсидівши майже п'ятнадцять років у в'язниці, колишній власник готелю Ян Дітє відправляється на постійне місце проживання в Судети і поселяється в одному з покинутих біженцями будинків. Переосмисливши прожите життя, заспокоєний і умиротворений, він згадує свою молодість, яка відбулася у постійному прагненні до збагачення. Починаючи свій шлях з роздрібної торгівлі, він стає офіціантом, змінюючи за допомогою протекції свого нового знайомого скромну пивну на фешенебельний ресторан. Одруження на етнічної німкені дозволило знайти роботу і після гітлерівської окупації. В кінці війни Ліза привезла колекцію рідкісних поштових марок, зібрану нею в будинках виселених євреїв. Продаж марок, отриманих таким шляхом, дозволила Яну стати мільйонером і власником готелю. Ціною успіху стало життя Лізи, яка намагалася врятувати марки під бомбардуванням, і арешт самого Дітє, після націоналізації його майна новими комуністичною владою.

Francin (JirÃ Schmitzer), manager of a small-town brewery, has a charming wife whose abundant blonde locks are an adornment to the town. Maryska (Magda VÃ¡sÃ¡ryovÃ¡) looks ethereal but loves meat and beer, while Francin is an ascetic. The strict members of the brewery board of directors come to audit the accounts, but are diverted from concentrating on Francin's detailed reports by Maryska, who has organized a pig-killing feast and is ably assisting the butcher. When she invites the old curmudgeons on the board to enjoy the fresh pork, they are too happy to agree. Francin doesn't know whether he is going to get a permanent contract. To make things worse his brother Pepin (JaromÃr HanzlÃk) - eccentric, noisy and garrulous - turns up on an indefinite visit.

Сюжет

When he returns to Prague from a stint in the Army, Lada does not seem to fit in anywhere, and he cannot get the hang of the system of deliberately underperforming on the job. His girlfriend tries to keep him in the city with a variety of stratagems, but he eventually takes a job as a truck driver on a dam-building project. He uses the truck to visit his girl on weekends. Ingenuous, he is unaware that the truck is being used for black-market smuggling, and that his girlfriend two-times on him when he cannot arrange to leave on time for his weekend.

Сюжет

Поки рідна Чехословаччина знаходиться під окупацією Німеччини, Мілош Грма влаштовується працювати на невелику залізничну станцію при Богемії. На вулиці 1944 рік, розгортається протистояння між окупантами і партизанами. Мілошу, який ще хлопчик, життя ще не встигло показати всі свої принади, на відміну від диспетчера Губічка. Мілош бере собі за приклад цього щасливого чоловіка, у якого і робота йде на лад і увагою дівчат він не обділений. Грма ж закоханий у Машу, яка працює кондуктором.
