У Ріо настав час щорічного карнавалу. У цей час можна без всяких обмежень і самоконтролю віддаватися веселощам, музиці і танцям. Орфей працює кондуктором трамвая, грає на гітарі. Орфей заручений із Мірою. Міра дуже екзотична жінка, вона кожен день живе так, як на карнавалі. Але Орфей повинен любити Еврідіку - дівчину, яка приїхала в Ріо відвідати свою кузину Серафіну.
