Five years after the public became aware of the existence of evolved humans - or "EVOs." Said public is not entirely supportive of these EVOs. In fact, few people fall into the middle ground. Online, a community forms around the rallying cry of the anonymous Hero_Truther, who seeks to humanize EVOs in the wake of lies, slander and fear mongering. Among those posting their personal stories is Phoebe Frady, who is encouraged to document her origin story by her brother, Quentin. But as Phoebe struggles to control her power, she attracts unwanted attention from a mysterious new company.

Lucas and Sylvia's initial animosity quickly becomes a heated romance - despite the warnings of almost every friend in her circle. But what seems like a love story straight out of the movies hits a major plot twist when the police begin an investigation into Lucas' involvement in the Melissa Kennedy case. У Тодда Сміта, учня школи Кроулі-Хай, проблем вистачає. Метал-група "варварський апокаліпсис", в якій грає Тодд, – повний відстій, його оцінки з математики все гірше, а дівчина, яка давно подобається, навіть не підозрює про його існування. Несподівано в руки підлітка потрапляє Книга Абсолютного Зла, здатна змінити його життя. Тодд довго не роздумує. Він вирішує скористатися Книгою заради своєї вигоди, і тим самим, ненавмисно, звільняє сили зла в школі Кроулі-Хай ... У ході сюжету серіалу з’ясовується: Книга підживлюється тими, хто в нужді, у відчаї, хто загубився або марнославний. Вона проникає в голови учнів, сіючи хаос від серії до серії. Будь-хто, хто володіє Книгою, не може встояти перед спокусою використовувати її силу задля своїх бажань. Минає лише кілька днів, і завдяки необережності Тодда, Кроулі-Хай осаджена монстрами, створеними з людського жиру, м’ясоїдними зомбі-рокерами та іншими жахливими породженнями Книги. Тодд і його друзі – єдині, хто встає між світом і його повним знищенням. У ході справи Тодд дізнається про своє призначення, долю та про те, як це – бути героєм.
