Сюжет
Останні дні війни. Голландія окупована фашистами. Біля будинку одного з жителів маленького містечка партизанами був убитий голландець, який співпрацював з фашистами. Жителі цього будиночка, побоюючись помсти фашистів, перетягують тіло до іншої хати. У ньому живе директор гімназії з сім'єю. Фашисти розстрілюють всю сім'ю, і спалюють цей будинок дотла. Вдається вижити тільки 12-річному Антону. Ця страшна трагедія залишає глибокий слід в душі хлопчика, і коли він зростає, незважаючи на його щасливе одруження, успішну кар'єру, події тієї страшної ночі весь час нагадують йому про себе і позбавляють спокою...
