Внаслідок автомобільної аварії керівник хірургічного відділення однієї з лікарень Торонто Чарлі Гарріс впадає у кому. Його наречена і колега, Алекс Рід, разом з видатним хірургом Джоелем Гораном борються за життя Чарлі та інших пацієнтів. Кожен день, стикаючись із необхідністю приймати нелегкі й сміливі рішення, медики дарують людям надію на порятунок.
