Сюжет
В розпал громадянської війни, комісар Вавілова завагітніла, батько майбутньої дитини загинув в бою, і їй довелося народжувати. Їй виділили кімнатку в будиночку, де тулилася сім'я євреїв. Ці бідні люди, що натерпілися за війну горя, були настільки багаті серцем, людяністю і добротою, що прийняли комісара як рідну людину. З жінкою, що зробилася жорстокою за війну, відбувається метаморфоза. Вона зігріта людською участю і теплом. Але, коли червоним доводиться відступити, Вавілова залишає дитину і йде услід за відступаючими товаришами...
