Голлівуд це справжнісіньке місто мрії, тому й не дивно, що вони іноді знаходять своїх господарів. У центрі цього лабіринту від маестро психологічного кіно Девіда Кроненберга стикаються люди, долі яких у підсумку міцно переплітаються. Ми бачимо типову голлівудську сім'ю, глава якої терапевт, до якого на сеанси приходить актриса Гавана. У артистки проблема, до неї уві сні з'являється рідна мати, чим отруює життя дівчини. Син терапевта, якому 13 років, недавно відійшов від реабілітації. У ці дві сім'ї входить дівчина з Флориди, яка сподівається стати зіркою кінематографу. Але Голлівуд сам вирішує, хто впаде в його милість, а хто зазнає невдачі.
