Mohandas was born in the Gujarati speaking family, had several brothers who jointly owned property in Rajkot. At the age of 13 Mohandas married Kasturba. On attaining maturity he re-located to England, became a Barrister, returned home, and together with Kasturba re-located to South Africa. They returned to India for a few years and this is where they became parents of four sons: Harilal, Manilal, Ramdas and Devdas. Subsequently, the family returned to South Africa, leaving Harilal alone. As Harilal did not do well in his studies he got married to Gulab without his parents' blessings. Mohandas then invited Harilal to South Africa and on his Secretary's request also invited Gulab, who had recently given birth to a daughter, Rami. Harilal wanted to be a Barrister like his father but found his movements restricted as his father wanted him to actively participate against the Satanist and Racist British regime, leading to Harilal being arrested and imprisoned. Harilal's hopes of becoming a Barrister were dashed when Mohandas sent his nephew, Chaganlal, instead, and when Chaganlal proved a failure, sent Sorabjee to England in his place. Harilal then changed his name to Pranlal Mehta in a vain attempt to return to India. A frustrated Gulab, now a mother of 4, did return to India with her children. After actively protesting draconian British Laws, especially the Christian Act that only recognized marriages performed by a Christian Priest, by General Ian Smutts, Mohandas was imprisoned, and upon being released returned to India. He hoped that Harilal would follow in his footsteps, but Harilal re-located to Calcutta, found a job as a Cashier, embezzled and borrowed money to buy imported cloths, in vast contrast to Mohandas' campaign to burn foreign clothing, got himself in trouble and debt, prompting Gulab to return to leave him. Harilal did return to Gujarat after he heard of his son, Shanti's and Gulab's passing. He did get involved in the freedom struggle temporarily, but was lured by some businessmen, who used his and his dad's name to get people to invest, and then disappeared, forcing Mohandas to publicly disown his son, who was then arrested and imprisoned. Unstable, unemployed, unable to keep up with his father's lofty standards, Harilal considered becoming a Christian, but then with Zakaria's help became an Islamic and changed his name to Abdullah, prompting Kasturba to pay him a visit and talk him to becoming a Hindu again. Then when Mohandas announced the beginning of 'Do or Die' campaign in Bombay during 1942, he was placed under house arrest in the Agha Khan Palace with Hindus calling him a traitor and Muslims praying for his death. This is where a distraught, disheveled and bearded Harilal will meet his parents. Will his parents accept him as he is and welcome him back?

Ajay lives with his stern, honest, disciplinarian and Gandhian widowed father, Prof. (retd.) Raghuvansh Shastri. Ajay works as a salesman, but soon finds himself out of work. He applies for a position with the Police, but is turned down, even though he always makes it to the merit list. Finally he borrows 5 lakh rupees to bribe his way on the merit list, & soon his name is shown on the shortlist. Just before his selection, major differences crop up between Home Minister Dinkar Pandey and his dad, with the later threatening to expose the corruption within the State Ministry. Dinkar ensures that Ajay's name is dropped from the shortlist, and the money-lender sends his goons after him, giving him 3 days to come up with the money. A desperate Ajay decides to be part of the lucrative kidnapping scheme in Bihar, abducts a Government official and demands a ransom so that he can re-pay his loan. Unfortunately, this Government official was under the protection of underworld Don, Gaya Singh, who carries out his operation from prison. When it is discovered that Gaya is involved, the abduction goes awry, with Ajay being arrested by the police, held in a cell, where he is severely beaten and humiliated by Gaya Singh. Ajay is discharged from custody when no one identifies him. Ajay is enraged, frustrated with his life, and he decides to take kidnap another government official. This official was on the list to be kidnapped by Gaya Singh, under instructions from corrupt MLA Tabrez Alam. When Gaya finds out that Ajay is behind this kidnapping, he locates and decides to kill him, a tussle ensues which results in Gaya's death. Ajay then takes over from Gaya and is accepted with open arms by Tabrez and his men. What Ajay does not know is that Tabrez is a ruthless man, who has killed his very own nephew, the son of his brother, Usman Alam, when he became an informant for the police. When Ajay's popularity grows, he is invited by Dinkar to join forces with him, as everyone from a lowly Police Constable to the Home Minister gets a share in the ransom money. Ajay refuses, however, Tabrez is misinformed about this and thinks that Ajay is against him. Now Ajay finds himself alone, as even his father has forsaken him. The girl he hoped to marry, Megha, no longer cares for him, and the police want him dead or alive - that is if he can escape from the clutches of Usman and Tabrez first.

Rishabh and Parineeta are both deeply in love with each other. He is a wealthy young man, working in an advertising agency while she is a hardworking, dedicated doctor. Rishabh and Parineeta are both deeply in love with each other. He is a wealthy young man, working in an advertising agency while she is a hardworking, dedicated doctor. Both marry and soon Pari is pregnant. Pari has a dream to create a hospital for children. Tragically, Pari is suddenly involved in an accident, and both the baby and she die in hospital. Pari's last wish was to donate her heart to a patient of hers called Dhani. Rishabh is devastated, and opposes the plan to donate the heart but goes ahead with Pari's last request. Dhani is cured much to the joy of her family and her grandmother. Rishabh has gone into depression but soon comes across Pari's project to build a hospital for children. He plans to fulfill her dream and begins to develop the hospital. Soon enough Rishabh and Dhani come across each other and she feels an instant attraction to him. Rishabh ignores her advances as he is still very much in love with Pari. Rishabh does not know that Pari's heart was given to Dhani and soon he relises that but there Dhani faints then he starts to fall in love with her to thinking as if she is another Pari that has the same heart and then Dhani and Rishab get together.
