Michael James, a notorious womanizer, desperately wants to be faithful to his fiancÃ©e Carole, but runs into serious problems since every woman he meets seems to fall in love with him. His psychoanalyst Dr. Fassbender can't help him either since he's busy courting one of his patients who in turn longs for Michael. A catastrophe appears on the horizon as all the characters check into the Chateau Chantelle hotel for the weekend not knowing of each other's presence.

Сюжет

Франція, літо 1944 року. Полковник фон Вальдхайм мріє вивезти з Парижа в нацистську Німеччину цінну колекцію творів мистецтва. Але слід поспішати, поки союзницькі війська не звільнили місто. Полковник настільки одержимий цією ідеєю, що вона стає важливіше, ніж війна. Він переконує начальство надати йому поїзд. Залізничний інспектор Лабіша благає керівництво музею зупинити цей поїзд. In this adaptation of FranÃ§oise Sagan's best selling novel, Paula is a beautiful and highly successful 40-year-old businesswoman. She is deeply in love with Roger, her mature consort of five years. Roger is a very charming gallant who loves Paula but is too selfish to give up his freedom to be promiscuous. When Paula meets Phillip, the 24-year-old immature lawyer son of one of her rich clients, he falls hopelessly in love with the glamorous, sympathetic older woman and insists that the age difference will be no barrier to a romance. Paula resists the young man's persistent advances, but she finally succumbs when Roger initiates yet another affair with one of his young Maisies. An affair begins, and society does not approve.
