Справжнє ім'я Наталі Вуд — Наталія Захаренко. Батько — Микола Захаренко, українець. Мати — Марія Зудилова, з московії.
Свою першу роль Наталі зіграла у віці 4 років, у фільмі «Happy Land» (1943), хоча в титрах її імені не було. Офіційний дебют актриси відбувся у фільмі «Tomorrow Is Forever» (1946), де її партнерами були Orson Welles та Claudette Colbert.
У 1955 році у США виходить фільм «Rebel Without a Cause» з James Dean, де Наталі з ... іграла Джуді , одну з головних ролей. Після ролі С'юзен Вокер у фільмі «Miracle on 34th Street» (1947), роль Джуді стала другим переломним моментом у кар'єрі Наталі , перевівши актрису з дитячого амплуа в доросле.

Noel himself warns Marjorie repeatedly that she's much too naive and conventional for him, but they nonetheless fall in love. As they pursue an on-again-off-again relationship, Marjorie completes her studies at Hunter College, and works to establish an acting career, while Noel first leaves the theater for a job with an advertising agency, but later completes a musical he'd started writing before he and Marjorie had first met. Meanwhile, their relationship deepens (though, consistent with '50s Hollywood mores, the more full-fledged sexuality in their relationship is never explicitly communicated). They plan to marry, but after the musical's critical failure on Broadway, Noel runs away. Marjorie finally tracks him down at the summer theater where they first met--and, realizing that this is probably where he belongs, finally gives up on the relationship. Middle-aged Oscar winning actress Margaret Elliot - Maggie to those that know her - is a Hollywood has-been. Her life is in shambles. Jim tries to help her come to the realization of the stage of life that she is in to help her reinvent herself.
