Keeping Up Appearances is a British sitcom created and written by Roy Clarke for the BBC. Centred on the life of eccentric, social-climbing snob Hyacinth Bucket, the sitcom follows her obsessive and determined attempts to impress in middle class society and portray herself as more affluent than she truly is.

The show stars Patricia Routledge, who received two BAFTA nominations for her performance as Hyacinth. Broadcast between 1990 and 1995 on BBC One, the sitcom spawned five series and 44 episodesâ€”4 of which are Christmas specials. Keeping Up Appearances was a great success in the UK and also captivated a large audience in the US, Canada, and Australia, but production ceased in 1995 when Routledge wanted to move on to other projects. Since its original release, all five seriesâ€”including Christmas specialsâ€”are available on DVD. In 2004, the sitcom was ranked 12th in the countdown of Britain's Best Sitcom. It is regularly repeated worldwide.

Класична екранізація одноіменного роману Шарлотти Бронте.
Маленька Джейн Ейр втрачає батьків і переїжджає до будинку свого дядька. Згодом помирає і він. Дядькова дружина місіс Рід ненавидить свою племінницю, а її діти постійно б'ють Джейн. Після чергових побоїв аптекар, що приїхав оглянути дівчинку, радить місіс Рід віддати її до школи. Джейн Ейр потрапляє в Ловудську школу для дівчаток. Директор називає її брехухою, але незважаючи на це, в неї складаються добрі відносини з учителями та іншими ученицями. Закінчивши школу, Джейн працює там вчителькою. Але вона прагне змін, тому дає оголошення в газету і влаштовується гувернанткою в маєток Торнфілд. Її учениця - маленька Адель, вихованка господаря маєтку містера Рочестера. Він дуже гордий, зверхній, та разом з тим самоіронічний. Джейн цікава ця людина. Сам Рочестер звик до уваги самовдоволених та багатих дам. Тож скромний характер Джейн Ейр теж зацікавлює його. Вони проводять за розмовами багато часу. Якось в маєток прибувають гості, знайомі містера Рочестера. Стає зрозуміло, що Рочестер збирається одружитися з красунею Бланш Інгрем. Джейн засмучена. Вона закохана в Рочестера і вважала, що й він також небайдужий до неї. Джейн отримує лист. Їй повідомляють, що місіс Рід помирає і хоче її бачити.
