She is the sweetheart of the worker George Watkins, a simple man that dreams on marrying her. When the smalltime gangster Harold Goff arrives in Brooklyn, he extorts money from Jonah and Olaf to "protect" their boat from fire and dates Stella. Jonah tries to convince his daughter that Goff is a racketeer that takes money out of poor ordinary people but she does not care to her father since she sees Goff as her chance to have a comfortable life and visit new places. Dagwood, left to tend the house while Blondie goes to work, succumbs to a neighbor's suggestion to go fishing and leaves Baby Dumpling in care of Blondie's sister, Dot, in town for a jitterbug contest. While fishing, Dagwood meets two entertainers from the Garden Cafe and when one of them, Francine, almost overturns the boat, Dagwood grabs to save her, and the "glutch" is photographed. Blondie has the film from Dagwood's camera developed, and Dithers wires her to buy some land owned by the Garden Club proprietor before he learns that it has been approved as the site of the new airport. Enroute, she picks up the developed film. Dagwood has wandered off to play pool, and Dot and her boy friend, Freddie, take Baby Dumpling with them to the jitterbug contest at the Garden Cafe. Blondie recognizes Francine from the fishing photograph just as Dagwood comes along in pursuit of Baby Dumpling. She smacks him with her purse, then leaves with Baby Dumpling. The café owner finds the Dithers telegram realizes the importance of his land. Сюжет
Одного разу юрист Стівен Арден приходить на прийом до свого друга психіатра Тоні Флегга з проханням вивести його із запою, пов’язаного з його майбутнім одруженням на популярній радіозірці Аманді Купер, яка виявилася вельми непередбачуваною особою. Волею долі Аманда опиняється в кабінеті Тоні і, випадково вмикнувши фонограф, чує нелестну думку лікаря про себе.Дівчина вирішує дошкулити лікареві за його слова, але виходить зовсім навпаки — вона закохується в Тоні. Психіатр, бажаючи допомогти другу повернути любов, гіпнотизує Аманду, заклавши в неї ненависть до себе, додавши в кінці сеансу слова: «ненавиджу і застрелю, як скаженого пса». Аманда, під дією гіпнозу, влаштувала справжнє сафарі під час заміської прогулянки. Крихітна дівчина ледве не вбила Тоні. Щоб вивести її з трансу, хлопцеві довелося проявити чимало кмітливості та винахідливості…
