Біографія
Жорж Мельєс (1861–1938) — французький ілюзіоніст і режисер, один із засновників світового кінематографу.
Народився в Парижі в сім'ї промисловця. Спочатку був ілюзіоністом і володів театром «Робер-Уден», а у 1895 році, побачивши кіносеанс братів Люм'єр, захопився кінематографом. 1897 року заснував власну студію «Стар фільм» і почав знімати короткометражні фільми зі спецефектами, найвідомішим з яких стала «Подорож на Місяць» (1902).
Пізніше через фінансові труднощі практично відійшов від кіно й бу ... в надовго забутий, але згодом отримав визнання як один із батьків кінематографа. Помер у Парижі, похований на цвинтарі Пер-Лашез; його біографія лягла в основу фільму «Хранитель часу» (2011).

A magnificent Venetian oratory. On the left a large bay window through which may be seen the Grand Canal of the city of Venice. In the centre a colonnade and a hemicycle; to the right is a statue of the Madonna. At the beginning of the scene Romeo in his gondola sings to Juliet a sentimental song, then goes away. Hardly has he departed when the colonnade falls to pieces, disclosing the devil. Juliet, frightened, runs to the window and calls Romeo. The latter attempts to enter and protect his fiancée, but at a gesture from the devil the window is instantly covered with a grating and Romeo makes frantic efforts to break it. The devil begins to dance a wild dance before Juliet, who is beside herself from terror. The devil gradually becomes the size of a giant (a novel effect). Juliet implores the statue of Madonna, which becomes animated, descends from its pedestal, and stretching out its arms orders the devil to disappear. The devil grows smaller and smaller and finally becomes a tiny dwarf, then he is lost in space. The window resumes its first form and Romeo embraces his beloved, with the benediction of the Virgin.

Standing up he strides to the chair but on trying to lift it a Spector materializes in the chair, arises and challenges the man. The man pulls out his sword and lunges at the Spector but it changes into a skeleton. Seeing the change the man tried to grab the skeleton but it changes into an armor clad guard. The man attempts to move the guard but a devil appears and waves the man away. The man recoils from the devil and tries to leave but the Spector reappears. Both it and the devil frighten the man from the antechamber.

As they follow his order he urges even more men to enter but a shot from within rings out killing the officer.

As he tries to get back on deck the tossing becomes even more turbulent causing most to lose their footing. All go below except for the captain who has stayed at his post throughout this whole event.
