Біографія
Жорж Мельєс (1861–1938) — французький ілюзіоніст і режисер, один із засновників світового кінематографу.
Народився в Парижі в сім'ї промисловця. Спочатку був ілюзіоністом і володів театром «Робер-Уден», а у 1895 році, побачивши кіносеанс братів Люм'єр, захопився кінематографом. 1897 року заснував власну студію «Стар фільм» і почав знімати короткометражні фільми зі спецефектами, найвідомішим з яких стала «Подорож на Місяць» (1902).
Пізніше через фінансові труднощі практично відійшов від кіно й бу ... в надовго забутий, але згодом отримав визнання як один із батьків кінематографа. Помер у Парижі, похований на цвинтарі Пер-Лашез; його біографія лягла в основу фільму «Хранитель часу» (2011).

A devil wearing bat-like wings and brandishing a trident dances around a giant pot, conjuring forth flame from his trident to lit a fire beneath the pot. After the devil works the fire with bellows, an angelic woman emerges from the pot. The scene opens in an artist's studio where the unfinished statue of William Tell stands upon a pedestal. A clown appears and sticks a clay arm and clay head on the statue, thus completing it. He places a large brick on top of the head to make it stick. When he turns his back the statue turns into a living representation of William Tell, and seizing the brick from the top of his head, hits the clown a heavy blow upon the back. The sides of the box fall to the ground, but instead of containing the magician a lively clown steps forth who further mystifies the audience by causing the box to disappear, and in its place is seen a fully laid table with a smoking dinner, to which the clown applies himself. The table, however, suddenly disappears much to the astonishment of the clown, who is confronted by the magician in the garb of Mephistopheles. Standing up he strides to the chair but on trying to lift it a Spector materializes in the chair, arises and challenges the man. The man pulls out his sword and lunges at the Spector but it changes into a skeleton. Seeing the change the man tried to grab the skeleton but it changes into an armor clad guard. The man attempts to move the guard but a devil appears and waves the man away. The man recoils from the devil and tries to leave but the Spector reappears. As they do all the military men run inside the nearby building and close a large door. Four enemy soldiers and an officer breach the fortification and try to break in the door. Failing this the officer call for the use of explosives. All the enemy soldiers take cover as the door is blown down. The officer is the first to return ordering his men to enter the building.
