Життя тече у своєму руслі в маленькому американському містечку, де живе Біллі Пельцер (Зак Гелліган): він вчиться, працює в банку, рятує свого собаку від підступів злої старої місіс Дігл (Хойт Екстон), закохується в красуню-співробітницю Кейт (Фібі Кейтс), що підробляє в місцевому барі «У Доріс».Але все міняється, коли батько Біла, горе-винахідник Рендел Пельцер (Хойт Екстон) дарує на Різдво синові кумедну істоту, яку чоловік купив у маленькому магазинчику в Китайському кварталі. Пельцери називають істоту «Гізмо». At least once, he showed a film, the only known film of Anna Pavlova (doing her Swan Dance). The Muppets' first TV appearance was on Ed Sullivan. Stiff and expressionless, with a peculiar voice and a talent for mispronunciation, Sullivan was at least as recognizable as Cronkite to early 60's viewers.
