«Війна хрестоносців» - дивна історія про життя народу Австрії 17 століття на фоні 30-річної війни. Мандрівний вчитель Вогел потрапляє в мирне село, на якому ще не лежить слід майбутньої війни. Коли армія безжальних найманців на чолі з «капітаном» також знаходить цей оазис, мешканці села потрапляють в безодню горя та насильства.
