Оскільки весна супроводжується потеплінням, і дні подовжуються, у Шотландії настає сезон розмноження; ми йдемо за зайцями-біляками, сатурнієвими та глушцями, найбільшими тетеревами у світі. У Шотландію прийшло літо, а разом з ним довгі дні та достаток їжі; ми приєднуємося до білохвостих молодих орлів, оленів, білків, видр, бобрів і олушів у багатьох прибережних місцях та озерах країни. У Шотландії осінь; дні стають коротшими, температура падає, і харчові ресурси виснажуються. Ми стаємо свідками того, як атлантичний лосось, благородний олень та білка готуються до зими. Ця зима порушила всі правила, будучи надзвичайно теплою; тепло вивело благородних оленів з укриттів і стало лихом для зайців-біляків, єдиний захист яких від ворогів — ховатись у снігу.
