Sarah Keaton has just passed away following a difficult bout of cancer. She is survived by among others her loving executive chef/restaurateur husband, Tom Keaton, and their eight year old son, Oscar Keaton. The end of the Keatons' marriage was difficult not only because of the cancer itself, but also because they had divergently different views on treatment, and because her early prognosis was positive leading to both not treating the news of her imminent death well. Tom copes recklessly, irresponsibly and angrily in his grief, manifested by among other things indiscriminate casual sex with a multitude of partners. Also negatively affected by Tom's actions is Sarah's sister, Karen, who feels she needs to be the responsible one, especially as Oscar is often a casualty of Tom's irresponsibility. Many of the Keatons' friends and colleagues try to be there for Tom in any way they can, including Miriam, a therapist who is more a friend of a friend. Tom may have to go through much pain before he and by association Oscar can emerge from their grief intact, if Tom emerges from it at all before disaster strikes in his recklessness.

Сюжет

П'ятеро чоловіків приходять у себе на занедбаному, наглухо закритому складі - один смертельно поранений і прикутий наручниками до труби, у другого зламаний ніс, третій пов'язаний, двоє залишилися - цілі, в синцях і саднах. У кожного амнезія.На столі - позавчорашня газета з статтею на першій смузі про викрадення двох заможних бізнесменів. Тим часом, на волі, поліція і дружина одного з викрадених готують викуп, намагаючись заманити в пастку ватажка банди викрадачів.Схоже, на складі опинилися замкненими і злочинці, і жертви. Але хто з них хто? Невже викрадачі пов'язані і прикуті, а ті, хто постраждав найменше - жертви, які перемогли і покарали лиходіїв? Або ж розгадка знаходиться за межами покинутого складу?

A look back at one of the more curious fads in American professional sports, the sudden rise and precipitous fall of the North American Soccer League, spanning its existence 1968-1984, as seen through the experience of its most famous club, the New York Cosmos. The NASL made very little impact in the US, where soccer had virtually no following, until in 1975 the New York Cosmos succeeded in signing the most famous player in the world, Pele. Attendence for Cosmos games exploded, outdrawing even the New York Giants and New York Jets of the NFL, to where exhibition games in Seattle were drawing huge crowds, and when Pele announced his retirement in 1977 his final game drew the biggest crowd to ever see a soccer game in the US. His retirement from the game began a slow but steady decline for the NASL as money issues for the league and the spending practices of the Cosmos became a running controversy.
