Composer Antonín Dvorák (Josef Vinklár) conducts a rehearsal at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where a series of his musical pieces is to be performed. He is suddenly being haunted by a vicious feeling expressed by four tones f-ges-e-f. He decides to immediately return back home with his wife Anna (Jana Hlavácková). On the train back home he immerses in his long forgotten memories. Fifteen years ago, when he was a violinist at a theatre orchestra, he got fascinated by the beauty and performance of an actress Josefina Cermáková (Jana Hlavácová). Being captivated by her appearance, he carried on playing even after the orchestra had finished. Josefina got later married to Earl Kounic (Svatopluk Benes), and her younger sister Anna married Dvorák.Written by

Сюжет
In a suburban villa, a woman of means is murdered. Police Superintendent Zdychynec from the Prague Liben neighborhood reports the case to Police Councilman Vacátko, upon whose order an investigation is launched immediately. Zdychynec begins to suspect the wooer of his own daughter, a handsome dragoon named Rudi, of the crime. In Rudi's absence, Zdychynec searches his rented room in the apartment of the elegant Mrs Dragicová. All his findings - among others, sand left on Rudi's jackboots and a decent amount of money in his bedside table - convince the superintendent that he is following the right lead, especially when Rudi refuses to say where he was at the time of the murder.

Ernie is a tightrope walker of only modest skill, but with a slim and beautiful assistant, Anna. Antonin speaks to her. The two spend the night in the change room by the river, Antonin massaging her feet all night long. Katherine decides to move into the caravan with Ernie. But now the major and even the canon sense Anna's attractiveness...

Важливий і факт наявності у творі відомих міцних фраз, які надають колорит і жвавість сприйняття картини. У даній версії відсутність цензури компенсує ці недоліки, можливо нагадуючи глядачам часи, коли читався твір саме в українському перекладі Степана Масляка (Київ 1970).
