Францією все ще править династія Наполеонів, і у світі йдуть війни за ще вцілілі ліси, а тих вчених, що не зникли, ловить поліція і замикає в "шараги".Авріл Франклен - правнучка вченого, в лабораторії котрого загинув Наполеон III. Її батьки намагаються зробити те, що не вдалося їх предку - створити "Абсолютну Сироватку", яка зробила б людей безсмертними. Однак в 1931-му їх теж вистежує поліція, і при втечі вони гинуть у вибуху вагона канатної дороги.
