Сюжет
Польща, 1939 рік. За вікном Друга світова війна. Ян та Антоніна Забінські були власниками великого Варшавського зоопарку, але війна змінила все. Тепер вони ховають у клітках від нацистів євреїв. Більше того, кілька людей живуть навіть в самому будинку подружжя. Ян також є одним з учасників польського антиокупаційного підпілля. Щоб не видати себе, Забінські продовжують доглядати за рештою звірів зоопарку. Це справжній подвиг, приховувати десятки і навіть сотні людей прямо під носом нацистів. Складнощів ще доставляє колишній друг сім'ї, а тепер високопоставлений німецький чиновник Лутц Хек, який по вуха закоханий в Антоніну.
