Fragment 53, Liberian notes, is a feature-length documentary film on war considered in its necessary and universal dimension, faced both as an actual and archetypical event. The phenomenon has been investigated on the field in Liberia, a country of peculiar, radical and unsettled conflicts, presenting sceneries, personalities and events ascribable to the essential warfare that the authors aim to evoke. The film develops through a set of first-person accounts selected from a wider amount of interviews with eminent warriors, generals and warlords collected in Liberia between 2011 and 2014. Seven self-contained portraits are presented one after the other, introduced by a voice-off statement from the authors and followed by an epilogue composed by nocturnal images on a set of quotations from former General Philip Wlue's vision of the world.

У січні 1969 року студент Ян Пала здійснив самоспалення на Вацлавській площі в Празі на знак протесту проти окупації Чехословаччини силами Радянського Союзу та інших країн Варшавського договору. Через три дні після отриманих опіків хлопець помирає в лікарні, і влада намагається приховати і спотворити справжні причини свого вчинку. Пізніше адвокат Дагмар Бурешов від імені родичів Яна Палаха подав позов про захист честі та гідності.Спираючись на справжніх персонажів та події, ця приголомшлива драма зосереджена на особистій жертві празького студента історії,. Ян Палач, який підпалив себе в 1969 році на знак протесту проти Радянська окупація Чехословаччини у попередньому році. Дагмар Бурешова, молода жінка-юристка, стала частиною його спадщини, захищаючи сім'ю Палаха під час судового розгляду проти комуністичного уряду, режиму, який намагався зневажити жертву Палаха, героїчну акцію за свободу Чехословаччини.
Боротьба за свободу, за моральні принципи, самопожертву та протест у ті відчайдушні часи призвела до морального об'єднання репресованої нації, яка через двадцять років перемогла тоталітарний режим. Річниця смерті Яна Палаха надихнула нове покоління студентів розпочати протести, які призвели до можливого падіння комунізму в Чехословаччині, що було частиною можливого знищення Залізна завіса.
Першим став юрист Дагмар Бурешова, який провів своє життя, представляючи опозиційних лідерів дисидентів Міністр юстиції у вільній Чехословаччині.
Фільм присвячений Ян Палач, Ян Зайєк, Евжен Плочек, Рішард Сівік, і всі, хто пожертвував своїм життям, бореться за свободу.

In this examination, interrelationships are considered dialectically--land/sky, bordered/borderless, old/new tech--while moments of stasis are shown as being sublated by entropy. Vulgar Fractions was shot entirely single frame with a digital camera and an intervalometer. Sound is composed from field recordings taken on location. Additional samples of farm machinery taken by Seth Chrisman, Jon Rhodig and Scott Thompson. Made with the kind support of the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.
