Сюжет
Юна та чарівна Емма мріє про одруження і вважає шлюб найбільшим щастям на землі. Вона закохується у місцевого лікаря Шарля Боварі, який лікує її батька. Шарль одружується з Еммою й дівчина у передчутті щасливого родинного життя. Але дуже швидко її очікування розтанули. Шарль видається їй занадто приземленим і нецікавим, а сама дівчина хоче світського життя. Проживання у невеличкому містечку Іонвіль видається їй нестерпним й Емма починає шукати захоплення на стороні. Дівчина зустрічає юнака, який відхиляє для неї завісу інтриг та пристрастей.
