Rosa Lynn sends her druggie daughter Loretta and her children Thomas and Tracy away from the big city to live with their uncle Earl in the ancestral home in rural Mississippi. Earl puts Loretta to work in his restaurant, Just Chicken, while also telling them about the generations of their family, the Sinclairs, dating back to their time in slavery before the the Civil War.

Нерозлучні друзі Боунз і Джек зовсім не думали ставати героями. Вони записалися в резервісти американської армії, щоб заробити грошей і відкрити власний магазин. Але тихої служби в тилу не вийшло. Вільний світ знову в небезпеці, і ось вже браві вояки вирушають битися до Африки.Це зовсім не входило в плани Боунза і Джека, у яких по рівню героїзму в крові обігнав би і кролик. Але тут, за іронією долі, справа обернулася так, що саме цьому ексцентричному дуету належить внести основний вклад до перемоги.
