Honeybee Hutch (みなしごハッチ, Minashigo Hatchi, lit. Hutch the Orphan) is a 1989 remake of the 1971 classic anime series The Adventures of Hutch the Honeybee.

The show follows the original series' main storyline, and tells the adventure of a young bee who searches for his missing queen bee mother. Like the 1970 show, this remake is notable for its sad and cruel scripts, often featuring the deaths of the protagonist's friends

Mami Sakura used to be a normal junior high school student, but she happened to acquire supernatural powers. Using her powers and with the help of her childhood friend, Kazuo Takahata, she solves mysterious occurrences.

She then saves people in trouble with her psychic powers, such as telekinesis and telepathy. When she senses someone needs help, she uses the "Teleportation Gun" (a heart-shaped brooch Takahata designs) and transports herself there. Mami's teleportation is only triggered when a projectile is flying toward her, and this locket that shoots out tiny marbles is a portable gadget for teleporting in a controlled way, rather than by chance. Her telekinesis can be precise to a cellular level, which enables her to transport cancerous cells out of one of her father's art critics. Her telepathy allows her to access people's thoughts and dreams.

Сюжет

В центрі сюжету стрічки — любовний трикутник в одному з гей-клубів Токіо. Трансвестит Едді, зірка клубу, знімається в порнофільмах знайомого режисера, вживає наркотики і намагається знайти кохання. Він прагне добитися любові одного з менеджерів клубу і наркодилера Гонда, конкуруючи в цьому з іншим трансвеститом — Ледою. Гонда боїться Леду, бо той може здати його поліції, якщо він не відповість взаємністю на його/її домагання. Коли Леда здійснює самогубство, Едді і Гонда можуть відчувати себе вільно у своїх гомоеротичних потягах один до одного. Але коли Гонда з'ясовує, що він є батьком Едді, він вбиває себе ножем. Збожеволілий Едді згодом використовує той самий ніж, щоб вирізати свої власні очі.
