Глуха американська провінція, містечко в штаті Міссурі. Неначебто без жодної особливої причини тут то худоба гине, то люди мруть. Молодий ветеринарний лікар Ілай Радкас, що тільки приїхав сюди, відчуває, що тут є якась таємниця, і намагається її розгадати.Місцевий фермер Джейкоб Лонг, прихильник «теорії змов», упевнений, що у всьому винуваті могутні корпорації. Мер містечка зацікавлений в тому, щоб те, що відбувається не вдавалося до розголосу. Мешканці налякані до смерті.
Сюжет

Зневірившись врятувати сина, мільярдерка Девон Адлер споряджає зореліт для досягнення схожої на Землю планети G889, попри спротив уряду. По прибуттю на планету виявляється, що G889 вже заселена. Колоністам доведеться мати справу як з аборигенами, так і з іншими людьми.Сюжет
