1907-й рік. Видатний учений і винахідник Доктор Плонк підраховує точну дату кінця світу. Той повинен неминуче відбутися через 101 рік, якщо негайно ж не почати заходи щодо порятунку людства. Як це звичайно й буває із провісниками, Плонка піднімають на сміх політики, бюрократи й навіть його вірний слуга Паулюс.
