Детектив Джексон Менді і сержант Лола Франкс цілковито різні люди: у них різний підхід до боротьби зі злочинністю та розслідування справ. Однак їм доводиться працювати разом. Чим же обернеться їхня співпраця? По той бік їм буде протистояти інша пара Фредді та Баба. Харизматична і самовпевнена Фредді Лейн піддається нападу з боку психопата, і її несподіваним рятівником стає колишній солдат Баба Ленґа. Вчинивши перше спільне вбивство, Лейн і Ленґа вирішують, що підходять один одному і як колеги, і як коханці.

The two fall in love and she becomes pregnant, but only then does she learn of his ethnic background. When anti-Jewish riots break out, the two are forced to flee and become separated.
