Історія доктора медицини і політика Франтішка Кріґеля, одного з героїв Празької весни 1968 року. 21-го серпня Кріґеля разом з п'ятьма провідними представниками партії і держави (Дубчек, Чернік, Смрковський, Шпачек і Шімон) було заарештовано та вивезено до Москви. У московському полоні Кріґель знайшов у собі сили протистояти тиску КДБ і особисто Генсека Лєоніда Брєжнєва. Він став єдиним, хто не підписав московську угоду, яка визнавала законною радянську окупацію Чехословаччини у 1968 році.

This contemporary story deals with the relationship between two brothers, which fell apart catastrophically twenty years ago and has still not been repaired. Karel is a successful businessman in a small Czech town, while Emil has prison tattoos, works as a day laborer, and drifts from one hostel to another. He apparently has a child somewhere, but only sends child support. Karel has a loving family, but his wife and two teenage children have no idea what happened between the brothers years ago; the children don't even know about Emil's existence. Karel needs Emil's help, so Emil spends several days at Karel's house. As far as brotherly help is concerned, the situation, as we learn from flashbacks, is complicated and may never be resolved, but Emil becomes close to Karel's family, discovers what he has been missing all his life, and comes forward to his daughter himself.
