Головна героїня фільму – Меггі (Сара Джессіка Паркер) – давним-давно збагнула, що найкращий відпочинок у світі може бути лише в Італії, на сонячному березі моря. Шкода тільки, що її дочка Саммер (Розі Дей) не поділяє таку думку. Приїхавши до Тоскани, дівчина раз у раз зідзвонюється зі своїм бойфрендом і шукає найменшу можливість, щоб якнайшвидше повернутися додому в США. Меггі була б зайнята лише вмовляннями дочки, якщо б не зустріла Луку (Рауль Бова). Пристрасний і ніжний, він один із найяскравіших спогадів її юності.
