In an act of vengeance, a young man randomly kills two police officers. He escapes to the forest, where he is arrested by two other officers. The three men are surrounded by trees, the woods. They are lost in a maze, a desolate landscape, where the boundaries between the hunter and the hunted are difficult to perceive.

A man is fired from his job. Having no more options, he decides to go find work abroad, leaving behind his wife and daughter. Months pass and his family hear no word from him. A stranger, a mechanic, arrives in town in search of work. His eyes wander to the beautiful young woman whom he hears no longer has a husband. Young Lateef works on a construction site in Tehran with some Turks and a few illegal Afghan workers. When Lateef is given heavier tasks to compensate for new Afghan worker Rahmat, he resents his displacement and treats Rahmat cruelly. After one of his pranks, however, Lateef discovers Rahmat's secret--he is a girl named Baran. Latif's heart softens towards Baran and he shows his new affection for her by doing what he can to ease the hardships she suffers at work. When government inspectors force all Afghans to be fired from the site, Lateef discovers he cannot bear to be without her. Jeopardizing social standing and endangering his own well being, Lateef stops at nothing to save his love.

Сюжет

Сюжет фільму будується навколо сліпого хлопчика на ім'я Могаммед, якого батько повинен забрати зі спеціальної школи, що знаходиться в Тегерані, на літні канікули. Він спізнюється, а потім намагається переконати директора школи залишити Могаммеда у школі на все літо. Директор відмовляється, і батько вимушений забрати сина і відвезти його додому в село. Батько соромиться сліпоти Могаммеда. Він вдівець і хоче одружитися на місцевій дівчині, в той час приховуючи, що має сліпого сина, через острах того, що сім'я дівчини сприйме це як погану прикмету.
