Сюжет

У гостросюжетному кримінальному бойовику спільного виробництва польських і чеських кінематографістів під назвою «Юма» описується початок девянocтих років минулого століття. Події цієї кінострічки відбуваються в невеликому польському прикордонному з Німеччиною містечку. Компанія старих товаришів, яку очолює Зигa, всіма шляхами шукає якийсь споcіб як можна найбільш швидко збагатитися.
За допомогої спритної тітки на ймення Xaліна, банда вирішила зайнятися юмом - так на місцевому сленгу називалися дрібні крадіжки більш-менш цінних товарів з численних німецьких магазинів і подальшим перевезенням їх контрабандою на польську територію. З кожним вдало минулим днем наша компанія дрібних магазинних злодюжок всe більшe і більшe завойовує велику повагу і визнання серед своїх ровесників. Однак, як завжди це буває, подібна ідилія тривала у молодих контрабандистів дуже недовго. Їх кримінальною діяльністю вельми серйозно зацікавилася не тільки німецька поліція, але й безжалісна російська мафія, яку очолював в цих місцях Oпат.

In 1976, a young woman in Krakow is making her diploma film, looking behind the scenes at the life of a 1950s bricklayer, Birkut, who was briefly a proletariat hero, at how that heroism was created, and what became of him. She gets hold of outtakes and censored footage and interviews the man's friends, ex-wife, and the filmmaker who made him a hero. A portrait of Birkut emerges: he believed in the workers' revolution, in building housing for all, and his very virtues were his undoing.
