Сюжет

Події фільму Шанхай розгортаються під час Другої світової війни, у 40-х роках в Китаї. Між Китаєм та Японією починається війна і незабаром японцям вдається окупувати Шанхай. Залишається кілька місяців до нападу японців на Перл-Харбор. Шпигун із США Пол прибуває до Шанхаю, де дізнається про те, що його близького друга, який теж працює на розвідку, вбито невідомими. Він намагається розслідувати вбивство та знайти винних. Шону вдається вийти на інших шпигунів та місцеву мафію, але ніхто не може розповісти йому про обставини смерті колеги. Незабаром герою стає зрозуміло, що його друга вбили не з політичних мотивів, а з особистих.

In the early 1980s, an FBI Agent is assigned to investigate the murder of a respected professor. After the assassination of Tokyo's Governor by Yakuza members, the CIA bureau chief (William Atherton) for Tokyo puts out a call to an agent (Steven Seagal) that had been raised in Japan and trained by ex-Yakuza.
