Він здійснив переворот у індустрії моди але його закенселили за неполіткоректні антисемітські заяви, зроблені під впливом алкоголю, та викреслили зі світу високої моди за одну ніч. Джона Ґальяно було звільнено з посади творчого директора модного дому Dior, і він майже на 15 років зник з модних радарів.
І лише 2024 року, після Паризького тижня моди він потроху повертається.
