Hotel CÃ¦sar is a Norwegian soap opera that has been broadcast on TV 2 since 1998. The show consists of more than 2,700 episodes, making it the longest running drama in television in Scandinavia. The show revolves around life at a big city hotel in Oslo and offers the usual soap combination of love, betrayal, sex and intrigue. It's shown Monday-Thursday at 7.30 p.m. (reruns at 7 p.m.) and is watched by around 500 000 (50% of all people watching TV in that time), and is immensely popular with youngsters.

Сюжет (англ.)

Knut Hamsun is Norway's most famous and admired author. Ever since he was young he has hated the English for the starvation they caused Norway during WWI. When the Germans occupy Norway on April 9, 1940, he welcomes them and the protection they can give from Great Britain. He supports the national socialist ideals, but opposes the way these ideals are turned into action - that Norwegians are jailed and executed. His wife Marie travels in Germany during the war as a sign of support from Knut and herself.
