An inspector from the State Security Agency appears affirming that he has information on people responsible for the massacre of his family. The Major is discharged from the hospital. He tries to patch together a normal life but is confronted with emptiness and despair. His only chance of discovering his identity and the assassin of his family is to accept the game that the Inspector has set up for him with the Businessman, the Mafioso and the Politician. He agrees... Discovers that he was a war criminal... Realizes who took a shot at him... Finds out who killed his family... Discovers the Fourth Man!

Eflatun is a master miniature artist who's living in 17th century Istanbul. One day, he's taken to the vizier's mansion by force. There he learns that Danyal, one of the Ottoman princes who has ignited an insurrection, is arrested in a far off state and to be executed soon. Eflatun is ordered to make a portrait of the rebel prince who's been condemned to death in a Western manner to help the authorities be certain on the identity of him. Upon the order, Eflatun sets off for an arduous journey to Anatolia. He picks up a girl named Leyla en route. Together, they find themselves in a great venture fraught with sensations.

Це дійсно гра. Самовідданість йде пліч-о-пліч зі зрадою, неминучість жертв з героїзмом, відчуття самозбереження з відчайдушним ризиком. І ці люди не працюють, вони грають, маніпулюючи своїми і чужими долями. І тут немає місця своїм почуттям, бажанням і сентиментальності.Усі спогади Натана Мура про його роботу з Томом Бішопом у В'єтнамі, НДР і Бейруті присвячені саме цьому. Але всі спогади вплетені у безперечно безглузду історію, яка трапилася з Бішопом у Китаї.
Там він спробував звільнити з в'язниці дівчину, з якою познайомився в Бейруті і в яку був закоханий.
