І ось, з'ясовується, що Алегра вдова, а обох дітей вони з чоловіком всиновили.Відносини розвиваються. Джек вже готовий зробити пропозицію, але в найвідповідальніший момент знову втручається доктор Моралес (реальний або живе в голові Джека Сінгера?) І майже силою вириває у нього з рук коробочку з фамільною обручкою.
